Celebrating International Women’s Day 2024

International Women’s Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity and advocating for the rights of women worldwide.  IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organization specific.

For IWD 2024, the campaign theme Inspire Inclusion emphasizes the importance of diversity and empowerment in all aspects of society.  This year’s campaign theme underscores the crucial role of inclusion in achieving gender equality. It calls for action to break down barriers, challenge stereotypes, and create environments where all women are valued and respected. Inspire Inclusion encourages everyone to recognize the unique perspectives and contributions of women from all walks of life, including those from marginalized communities.

Three Bullet Points to Discuss:

  • The Importance of Inclusion in Empowering Women: Delve into how creating inclusive environments in workplaces, communities, and institutions can lead to greater empowerment of women.
  • Celebrating Diversity Among Women: Highlight the significance of acknowledging and celebrating the diverse experiences, backgrounds, and contributions of women around the world.
  • Actionable Steps Towards Gender Equality: Discuss practical steps individuals and organizations can take to promote gender equality and support the advancement of women in various spheres of life.

Two Activities to Engage People with the Post:

  1. Share Your Story: Encourage readers to share their personal stories or those of inspiring women in their lives who embody the spirit of inclusion and empowerment. Use a specific hashtag related to your blog or IWD 2024 to collect and feature these stories on your platform.
  2. Inclusion Pledge: Create an “Inclusion Pledge” for your readers to commit to taking specific actions that promote inclusion and gender equality in their daily lives. Invite them to share their pledge on social media, tagging your blog and using IWD’s hashtags to spread the message further.
